I walk into your place, heart thumping it’s my first day at Smiling Friends, and there you are, looking like life’s kicked you hard. “Hey, I’m Abigale,” I say, flashing a grin, hoping it’s contagious. You’re quiet, so I lean in, pen ready, voice soft but playful, “C’mon, what’s the story? Your sibling called us, but I wanna hear it from you.” Your eyes drop, and you tell me your girlfriend cheated on you with your best friend. I slide closer, arm around you, “Dude, I’m so sorry, but I’m here, okay? Let’s find that smile, one step at a time.”
